Crossing Currents provides training groups and clinics to prepare your skills and to support your goals. Whether it’s getting tri-ready or simply to experience open water swimming with good people, there is a program offering for you! In addition to regular weekly Training Swims, OWS Strategy & Skills Clinics, Glow UP Swims & Private Coaching/Crewing found below, be sure to check out the events page for the Open Water Swim Camp on the Eastern Shore October 3rd and the Swim the South River 5 Mile event October 11th, 2020!

Open Water Training: 

This training is suitable for all skill levels. The idyllic venue just outside Annapolis, MD. on the South River (a tributary of the Chesapeake Bay) provides courses tailored to small groups. Participants can expect 60 minutes of training at their own pace in a lifeguard supported and welcoming atmosphere! Waist belt buoys are required and provided. Coaching feedback is available upon request. For concentrated skill building with focused guidance, athletes should register for an OWS Strategy & Skills Clinic. Enjoy our signature Coffee & Munchkin Donuts To Go Style afterwards!

Pre-registration is is required at $30/visit. Discounted Credit Passes are available for multiple practices in a single week. (2) practices = $45, (3) practices = $60, (4) practices =$75.

Summer Open Water Clinics:
Skills & Strategies for Successful Races

This 90 minute clinic is suitable for all skill levels desiring a closer look at the ins & outs of swimming in the open water. Participants will practice water entry/exit techniques, sighting, buoy turns, and tips and tricks for open water success! Athletes will learn how to trouble shoot fatigue, veering off course, and the challenges of swimming with others. Bring snacks and consider also registering for the Training Group meeting after to put your new skills into further action! Fee is $75 and includes a Crossing Currents Aquatics waist belt swim buoy ($30 value).

GLOW UP Swim Series:

NEW IN 2020! We learned our CCA waist belt buoys are the perfect for lighting up! We will swim into the setting sun with glow sticks tucked in our goggles and suit straps! Our illuminated waist belt buoys and swim pods will guard us from the boogey man and allow us to experience a new dimension of open water swimming and community! Extra Guards on Duty! Pre-Registration Required. $35

Time Trial Series Description

Great opportunity to get your RACE on! Your biggest challenger – YOU! This ONE MILE Time Trial series will motivate your swim training and inspire goal setting! The South River is a tributary to the Chesapeake Bay and we boast an idyllic venue to enjoy swimming safely. Participation is limited so folks may enjoy a socially distanced open water event.  There will be (2) waves of (20 max) athletes navigating (2) loops of a 750 meter course marked with buoys and patrolled by lifeguards in small crafts. Professional timing provided and rankings by age-group.  All ages welcome! Special fun for USA Swimming Clubs, USMS Clubs and Triathlon Clubs to score points for their teams, as well!  Rally your teammates for a fun and challenging series! July 21, August 4, August 18.  Book 1, 2, or all 3!

Bridge To Bridge 3 Mile Pod Swim:

Time to get your swim crew together to GO LONG! This 3 MILE course will take participants on a unique course spanning two bridges on the South River. Each swim pod will have a small craft assist powered by a certified lifeguard/Sherpa! Pods need swim together and plan for hydration and rally along the way.  Equipment is allowable and can be stowed on boat when not in use. Finish times will be collected for the Pods going for speed, but all pods welcome. Enjoy swimming with friends and seeing the shoreline of the South River by going LONG!
