Welcome to Hurricanes, an engaging and supportive intramural homeschool swim team designed specifically for kids ages 5-18!
At Crossing Currents Aquatics, we understand the importance of fostering a love for swimming while developing essential skills, and our program is geared toward encouraging teamwork and personal achievement in a non-competitive environment.
PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
Become A Stronger Swimmer
The Homeschool Hurricanes Swim Team offers an exciting opportunity for swimmers to enhance their abilities in the water while participating in a fun and nurturing atmosphere. Through dynamic practices, our dedicated coaches will focus on improving stroke mechanics, building endurance, and ensuring safety in all activities.
To join, swimmers must be able to swim 25 yards of both freestyle and backstroke independently. If your child is 3 to 7 years old and not quite ready for Homeschool Hurricanes, don’t worry! We also offer the Homeschool Hurricanes Prep Class, perfect for younger swimmers who are comfortable with water but need to master the fundamentals.

All practices are held at the Arundel Olympic Swim Center in Annapolis, a premier location equipped with outstanding facilities for swimmer development.
Homeschool Hurricanes meet on Mondays and/or Wednesdays from 12:30 PM to 1:30 PM
Homeschool Hurricanes Prep Class meets on Mondays and/or Wednesdays from 11:30 AM to 12:15 PM

Cost: Hurricanes $225 / Prep $240
Prices are pro-rated if you join mid-season.

Parking
There is ample free parking in the Swim Center parking lot. If the lot is full, there is additional parking behind the building.

The team is open to swimmers aged 5-18. If your child is 3-7 years old, they can join the Prep Class if they are not yet ready for the main team.

If your child is not yet ready for the Homeschool Hurricanes team, we recommend registering them for the Homeschool Hurricanes Prep Class to build their confidence and skills!

Yes! Swimmers have the option to register for either Monday, Wednesday, or both days. Simply add both sessions to your cart when checking out.

All practices are conducted indoors at the Arundel Olympic Swim Center, providing a comfortable training environment regardless of the weather.

Our practice sessions follow a structured yet flexible format designed to maximize skill development, conditioning, and fun:
Dryland Dynamic Warm-Up (10 mins): Swimmers engage in exercises that prepare their muscles for swimming, focusing on agility and coordination.
In-Water Warm-Up (10 mins): Swimmers enter the pool and perform light swimming drills to get accustomed to the water.
Skill Building (20 mins): This focused segment targets a specific technique of the day, helping swimmers refine their strokes while working individually and as a team.
Sprints and/or Relays (20 mins): Swimmers participate in exciting races, building speed and encouraging teamwork and competitive spirit.
